Our Impala has been a part of our family for over twenty-seven years. Marsha and I flew to Springfield Missouri and purchased it on our first wedding anniversary. We drove, at the time, the twenty year old car back to Saint Paul.
Many people at the time thought I was crazy to have paid $2,000 for a 1958. In those days there was little appeal for the 58's. The ever popular 1955 - 57 Chevys stole the show.
The next three years were spent learning it's not easy to restore an old car. It sure was well worth it.
The car is Glen Green with an arctic white top. It is powered by a 283 power-pack with a Power Glide transmission.
I have put 15,000 miles on it over the past twenty seven years and it presently has 127,000 miles.
The car has never seen the snow of Minnesota and has been stored every winter at the State Fair grounds.
I have never washed the car by spraying it with water. I learned from an old timer that it will lead to rust and rot. It only receives hand washing using a diaper and warm water from a bucket. It is promptly dried with a soft cotton bath towel.
Marsha and I are part of the original group of members when GSC began. We have enjoyed our '58 for all these years and being a member of GSC.
