MY 62 ADOBE BEIGE 4DR IMPALA (AS PURCHASED)

Image:
The picture below is the 1962 Chevy Impala 4 door sedan we call the "Adobe".
The name is derived from the flashy paint color known as Adobe Beige.
It is not resale red, but there is a toiuch of red on the side moldings.
I bought this car in July, 1994. It was owned by an Anoka resident who
purchased it from Main Motors in Anoka. I believe I am the 3rd owner of
this car. I bought it cheap as a parts car for my SS, but after driving it a while
I discovered it was too nice to part out.

I let my son Kyle drive it while he was a student at Mankato State.
He didn't want to drive it much because it was a starting to age fast. I then put
it into storage for a long time which didn't help it much.
I finally took it out of storage, had the 283 redone, took it to a body shop for
a quick fix-it-up to get it on the road as a good driver, but that didn't happen.
It became a five year, body off restoration, not something a sane person would
do to a 4 door sedan.

It is done now, and on the road again for the cruising season, was at the
"Farewell Late Great" conventioin in 2006 (just barely) where it received a gold
certificate and best paint in its class, award. I have had lots of nice comments.
Many "Boy you don't see many sedans that look like this", which is gratifying
because it was a struggle to get to look like it does today.

I have some original paperwork for the car and the Main Motors emblem that
was SCREWED into the trunk lid. It's fun to drive and Kyle likes driving
it again also.
